Murray & Ballance Win NCBFN Team Event #2
Chuck Murray and Ricky Ballance win Team Trail event on the Roanoke with 16.04 lbs winning by .01 pounds.
Roanoke River – Plymouth, NC – 6/11/2011
Chuck Murray and Ricky Balance of the Sandy Creek Bass Masters had just enough this weekend to take the victory on the Roanoke River. Chuck and Ricky brought 7 fish to the scales weighing 16.04 pounds barely beating Danny Flynn and Lee House by .01 of a pound. Chuck’s luck continues on the Eastern River chain as he recently beat Brent Boyette for Big fish in the Eastern Qualifier by .01 of a pound as well. Chuck and Ricky caught fish on top water, texas rig worms and a spinner bait. The bite was tough and it took us until 12:00pm to get a limit, then we went to the drops with stumps in about 6 ft of water and upgraded two key fish. We caught a 3.5 pounder at 2:00pm that help us to the victory.
Danny Flynn and Lee House of the Pitt County Bass Masters had a great catch as well with 7 bass weighing 16.03 pounds for second place, Rob Conway and Charles Anderson took third with 15.64 lbs and had the big fish of the tourney, a MONSTER 7.85 pounder! They also took home a brand new rod from Outdoor Accessories located in Kenly NC. Fourth place went to Jeremy May and Tony Dinungo with 6 fish weighing 15.26. They also had the second largest bass of the tourney weighing 5.48 lbs. Fifth place to the father/son duo or Ronnie and Jim Britt with 7 bass weighing 14.59 lbs.

Mercury Big BASS Award – Rob Conway and Charles Anderson – 7.85 pounder
Triton Big BASS Award– Jeremy May and Tony Dinungo – 5.48 pounder
The $1,000 Points Championship Race is very tight after two tourneys. 1st place belongs to Wesley Cashwell and his partner with a total of 184 points, Chuck Murray and Randy Groves are in 2nd place at 176, Cory Leonard and Scott Smith are in 3rd with 175 and Jay Wright and Ricky Balance and Eric Schell and Bruce Eskow are tied for 4th with 174. Andy Evans and Brent Boyette are in 6th with 168, Phil Bain and Tim Wiltfong are in 7th with 158, Danny Flynn and Gene Griffin, and Josh Milligan and JR Milligan are tied for 8th at 150 and Rob Conway and Charles Anderson are in 10th with 146.
The total pounds race is tight as well. Chuck Murray and Randy Groves hold a very small lead with 29.77 lbs, Jay Wright and Ricky Balance – 29.60 lbs, Wesley Cash well – 29.09, Cory Leonard and Scott Smith – 28.11, and Danny Flynn and Gene Griffin – 27.63. Total Weight Champions receive $250. The largest catch weighed still belongs to Eric Schell and Bruce Eskow with 17.30 pounds at Kerr Lake. The team with the largest one day weight wins $100.
