Phil Bain and Tim Wiltfong took fist place on the Team Trail Tournament on May 20th at Kerr Lake. Tim and Phil had a good catch with 5 bass weighing 13.30 lbs and moved them up to 6th place in the anglers of the year points race. Ryan Harrell and Tony Warren took second place with 12.03lbs, Randy Broughman and Charles Goff took 3rd place with 11.38lbs and Jay Wright and Ricky Ballance took 4th with 11.20lbs. We don’t have any pictures of the event as our photographer’s camera was full of pictures from the Western Regional Qualifier at Lake Wylie the week before. I apologize for that guys. Fish still seem to be small at Kerr Lake and the Lake is slowly recovering from the Large Mouth Bass Virus. The lake has really come down hill from 10 years ago when you had better have 10 fish weighing 30 to 40 pounds to win. What we have learned from this is that the State of Virginia manager Kerr Lake and NC manages Gaston. NC kicks butt in managing Lake Gaston and fish above 5 pounds are very common and 5 fish limits weighing 15 to 20 pounds are common.

As you know, we decided this year to allow teams to drop their lowest finish do to the fact of having a sunday tourney and that not everyone is able to make all the tourneys due to potential conflict. Without dropping a tourney, Cory Leonard and Cory Bynum have taken the lead with 278 points, Chuck Murray and Randy Groves have 272 points, Mark Robertson and David Ball have 263, Steve Strickland and Robbie Butler have 260, tied with Mike Barnes and Danny Smith for fourth.

With dropping your lowest finish, Chuck Murray and Randy Groves have 198, Cory Leonard and Cory Bynum have 194, Jay Wright and Ricky Ballance have 188, Mike Barnes and Danny Smith have 184, Mark Robertson and David Ball have 183, Phil Bain and Tim Wiltfong have 182, so the points championship has tightened up and the race is on!!  Our next event is June 30th on Gaston Lake out of Summitt ramp, blasting at safe light so don’t be late. See you there.
