Barnes and Smith Double the Field

Roanoke Rapids Lake — The 2009 team trail has opened up with a new 7 fish record caught by Mike Barnes and Danny Smith of Roanoke Rapids. The duo weighed in an amazing catch of 45.19 pounds, doubling the field. Ricky Todd and Gary McCaroll took second place with 22.73 pounds, Randy Broughman and Foya McLemore took third place with a catch of 22.08 pounds, and Chuck Murray and Randy Groves took fourth with 19.72 pounds.

It was a great day on the water and the fish were biting. Mike and Danny also had the big fish honors with a GIANT 8.14 pounder. The big fish was good enough for $72 and a brand new AllStarRod donated by Ed Collier of Outdoor Accessories Unlimited, 106 West Second Street, Kenly NC 27542 (www.outdooracc.com). Thanks ED!!

Dennis Bradley and his son Tommy, had the second largest fish with a nice 6.01 pounder earning them $48. We had only 11 teams venture to Roanoke Rapids Lake. A little disappointing, but I understand there were several tourneys in the area. Where else can you fish a team trail that pays back 90 percent on the entry fee??

Come out and enjoy the fellowship and fun. Next stop is on the Chowan River on May 23rd. at Shoups Landing.

Congrats again to Mike and Danny!
