NC Bass Nation Hosts First College Championship

Press Release: Kerr Lake – Flemingtown Landing, – 4/8/2018:
UNC Charlotte Forty-Niners team of Micah Speights and Clay Kepley dominate NCBN College BASS Championship.

The morning started out with brief snow showers over night, a 32 degree temperature. and a brisk north wind at 15 miles per hour. It was suppose to be a tough day on the water with blue bird skies but Micah Speights and Clay Kepley brought an impressive 5 bass limit to the scales weighing in at 19.13 lbs claiming the title of NCBN College BASS Champs. They have earned a birth to the B.A.S.S. College National Championship to be held in Oklahoma.

Second Place went to Zander Monk and Kolton Hawks with an impressive catch as well weighing in 16.86 pounds. Third Place was the team of Alex Rhoney and Grayson Wicker weighing in a five bass limit of 16.35 pounds. Fourth place went to Chris Carnes and Tyler Lawwill of the UNC Forty-Niners with a five bass limit weighing 14.51 pounds.

The big fish of the tourney was caught by Alex Rhoney and Grayson Wicker with a nice 5.35 largemouth. Second big fish was caught by Cody Pack and John Pope with a 4.96 pounder.

Thirty one teams participated in the NCBN’s first College Championship representing six different colleges.
